The House of Shells in Salamanca (Spain)

The incredible façade of the House of Shells in Salamanca (La Casa de las Conchas) was built in 1517 by Rodrigo Maldonado, who combined the late Gothic, Plateresque and Múdejar Style.

The shells are the symbol of the architect’s wife origins: the Pimentel family. They are also the attribute of the knights of the Order of Santiago de Compostela, and Maldonado was its member.

Some say that underneath one the shell you can find a hidden treasure… Why not come to Salamanca and find out whether it’s true or not?
